Dr. Wilde is a general  internist and infectious disease physician. Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Fellow of the American College of Physicians, Royal College of Tropical Medicine (UK) and Medical Council of Thailand. After he finished his training at the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada, he was in private practice for 7 years at Juneau, Alaska  (his home town) as well as a consultant to the USPHS Indian and Eskimo health service. He then  joined the  US Department of State  with postings in West Africa, Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Southeast  Asia.  He was the last director of the US Army Hospital in Bangkok during the Viet Nam war as he was seconded to the US-Army from 1968-71. He later served at the American Embassy, Bangkok at  Minister Counselor grade till retirement from US Government service when he became a full time faculty member at the Thai Red Cross Institute and  Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok.  He is now Professor of Medicine in the Divisions of Infectious Diseases and a member of several WHO Expert Committees dealing with rabies and vaccinology . Together with Professor Thiravat Hemachudha and Dr. Supaporn Wacharapluesadee, they started the new neurovirology and molecular biology center at the university hospital. Dr. Wilde  is a co-editor of ASIAN BIOMEDICINE journal and has published over 300 papers in peer review  journals and textbook chapters dealing  mostly with tropical medicine and infectious diseases as well as medical-social and economical  issues.  He has been an invited  and sponsored speaker at many international congresses in Europe, Asia, US, Canada and Brazill.
